🎮 Batocera Controls & Buttons (Simple Guide)

Batocera turns your PC or Raspberry Pi into a retro gaming console. Once it loads, you control everything with your controller — nice and simple.


🔌 Charging Your Controller (Important)

  • Plug your controller into USB to charge it
  • Wired connection = no battery issues
  • Some controllers won’t connect properly if low battery
⚠️ Tip: If your controller is acting weird or disconnecting, plug it in with USB first.

🕹️ Basic Controls

  • D-Pad / Left Stick → Move around menus
  • A Button → Select / Enter
  • B Button → Go Back

Easy way to remember:
A = YES
B = BACK


🎮 In-Game Controls

Controls depend on the system (NES, SNES, PlayStation), but generally:

  • D-Pad / Stick → Move
  • A / B / X / Y → Actions (jump, shoot, etc.)
  • Start → Pause / Start game
  • Select → Insert coin / menu

⚡ The Magic Combo (Important)

Batocera has a Hotkey button (usually SELECT or a special button).

  • Hotkey + Start → Exit game
  • Hotkey + X → Save game
  • Hotkey + Y → Load game
  • Hotkey + A → Emulator menu
🔥 Tip: Stuck in a game? Press Hotkey + Start to get out.

⚙️ Setup Controller

  1. Plug in your controller (USB is easiest)
  2. Hold any button
  3. Follow the on-screen setup
